Family Development

Family Development gives emphasis to raise awareness on the importance of family values and interactions in order to build a more harmonious society, in line with Penang2030 vision “A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation”. A new programme setup in 2019, it employs familial values in policies, programmes, and public sectors’ practices to increase healthy family interactions and participations.

Objectives of Family Development:

  1. Mainstream family perspective into policies, programmes, and practices of public sectors.
  2. Design, develop, and deliver programmes to foster family values through smart partnership.
  3. Research and develop a system for monitoring and evaluation, implementation of programmes, and policy.
Family

Family Day

Working with the Penang State Government, the inaugural State Level Family Day with the theme “Celebrating Families” in 2019 highlighted and raised awareness on the importance of family as a basic unit of society as well as to provide a space for celebrations of families which enables family members to interact with one another through fun and fruitful activities.

Childcare

Taska, Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak (PJKK), and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak (PJKK)

Entrusted by the Penang State Government to manage Taska D’ KOMTAR, Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak (PJKK) Daerah Timur Laut, and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak (PJKK) Daerah Seberang Perai Tengah, the initiative provides affordable and accessible childcare for working parents in Penang, which is in line with the Penang Childcare Policy & Action Plan (English version/Malay version) adopted and implemented in March 2013.

“Childcare@Workplace: A Business Imperative?”

Working with the Penang State Government and in partnership with TalentCorp and JCI Pearl, this industry dialogue promotes the importance of work-life balance practices with the participation of manufacturing companies, service industry, NGOs and governmental agencies. Participants discussed barriers faced as well as solutions to overcome those barriers in setting a childcare at the workplace.
